This reveals something unpleasant about the man, a thoughtless, supercilious, cavalier and casual attitude towards cruelty.

His first and only reaction to the unintended affect of his words was to snigger himself at the woman he'd made a joke of. No thought for Ms. Dorries who he left humiliated, not a one. I doubt he'd have much concern for you or I, either, and I'd rather not ever have him around.
