Breakthrough in Madeleine Pulver hoax collar-bomb case

Police have identified a prime suspect and are confident an arrest is imminent. Police have spoken to the suspect but have yet to formally grill him

POLICE have a prime suspect in the Madeleine Pulver bomb hoax case.
Police said they had identified the man in the days after Maddie was attacked in her Mosman home, based on information they gathered while interviewing the girl and speaking to her family.

Investigators from Strike Force Haddon said Maddie had told them her attacker had "old, wrinkly eyes" behind the balaclava he wore during the attack.
The existence of a prime suspect is believed to be the reason police have not released a description of her attacker.

A police source said there was no need to seek public help in identifying the offender, given investigators had identified the person they believed responsible soon after the incident.
