The Sun: Man 'drives' cool box full of rum

A MAN was charged with drink-driving after he was caught riding a motorized cool box full of rum and coke.

The device, purchased by Chris Petrie, 23, came complete with handle bars, wheels and a 50cc engine.

The cool box is mounted on a steel frame of the scooter-like vehicle and doubles as a driver's seat and can hold up to 48 bottles of beer.

Petrie's lawyer told magistrate John Parker that his client didn't realise the device would be classified as a motor vehicle and had not intended to break the law.

"It's an unfortunate situation - if he'd been drunk on a horse he'd have been ok."
