Saint of the Day, August 17: St. Jeanne of the Cross

St. Jeanne of the Cross (1666-1736): After two mystic experiences, Jeanne began to serve the poor, the sick, and the neglected. She started a religious community called the Sisters of St. Anne. Known for her miraculous healing abilities, she founded hospices and orphanages throughout France.
