Standing at the roadside, thumb out, hitchhiking was a staple of youngsters around the globe.
But this week we told how today just one in ten Britons is likely to stop for a hitchhiker - a massive drop from two years ago when a quarter of the population were willing to offer a lift.
So we decided to put Brits' kindness to the test, with me trying to hitchhike the length of the country, the 400 miles-plus from The Sun's HQ in Wapping, East London to its Scottish base in Glasgow.
