AsiaNews: The Indian Church supports Hazare, but is perplexed by his methods

Anna Hazare continues his hunger strike against corruption in India, despite being so weakened that doctors advise he be put on an intravenous drip. At issue is the government's proposed anti-corruption legislation which Mr. Hazare and his millions of supporters consider almost comically weak. Stronger laws, they say, are needed to stamp out rampant corruption. Included in this support is the Church in India, although with some qualms about Mr. Hazare's methods and great concern for his health. AsiaNews speaks to Cardinal Oswald Gracias, President of the Indian bishops' conference, and the Archbishop of Delhi, Vincent M. Concessao, about the matter.
