Kiss-in squelched

AFP:

Police Thursday foiled plans by gays and lesbians to stage a kiss-in before Pope Benedict, blocking the protesters before they could meet up.

In the end only two men managed to skirt security and kiss for the cameras just as the Pope passed by along the major Madrid artery of Calle Serrano.

More than 100 activists had planned to join up along the street where the Pope travelled in his white, bulletproof Popemobile for a welcoming ceremony in Plaza Cibeles square before 100,000 people.
