Vatican Insider: That blessed rain

Some WYD youngsters said Saturday evening’s rain storm “brought us into a stronger embrace with Benedict XVI.”

Somehow, the rain helped to set in stone the World Youth Day’s theme “Firm in the faith.” Neither the water nor the incessant wind that interrupted the Pope’s wake on Saturday evening at the “Cuatro Vientos” airport managed to quench the enthusiasm of the two million faithful in Madrid.

“We are here whatever happens, we must remain firm in the faith, as Catholics in our environment: come rain or lightening, they can attack us for our faith, but we must not allow ourselves to be influenced by this,” fifteen year old Mexican, Lorena Álvarez  said to Vatican Insider.
