Libyan fighters make final push for Bani Walid
Soldiers from Libya's governing National Transitional Council (NTC) have nearly completed their conquest of Bani Walid today, capturing a key valley that controls access to the center of the contested Gaddafi stronghold. Also in Libya, NTC fighters launched their assault on Muammar Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte last evening, adavancing on the city from three directions in 900 "technicals", pickup trucks kitted out with machine guns and rocket launchers. Given weeks to prepare, Gaddafi loyalists offered stiff resistance, killing 11 NTC soldiers and wounding 34.
