Muammar Gaddafi forces strike back against rebels
Forces of Libya's governing National Transitional Council are regrouping today after being repulsed from Bani Walid. Sniper fire and shelling from positions on high ground above the entrance to the town drove the NTC troops back; maybe giving Gaddafi loyalists time to strengthen their defenses during fruitless and quixotic surrender negotiations was a bad idea. Gaddafi loyalists are dug in and resisting fiercely in the north central town of Sirte as well.
