Saint of the Day, September 3: Pope St. Gregory the Great

Pope St. Gregory the Great (540-590): Gregory was the well-educated son of a wealthy Roman senator. He was a missionary in England before he was unanimously elected Pope. A Doctor of the Church, he is most well known for collecting the melodies and plain chant now known as Gregorian Chants.
