Saint of the Day, September 5: Bl. Teresa of Calcutta

Bl. Teresa of Calcutta (1910-1997): In 1928 Teresa joined the Sisters of Our Lady of Lareto in India. She taught school there for seventeen years. In 1950 she founded the Missionaries of Charity, an order devoted to helping the sick and poor. She is most well known for humbly ministering to lepers, the homeless and the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta.
